Mohs Cancer Surgery Training
After finishing his residency, he spent roughly three years in Northern Michigan working in a busy general and surgical dermatology practice. The world-renowned Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, offered Dr. Messana the opportunity to complete a further year of fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology after he was chosen from a pool of applicants with extraordinary qualifications. Dr. Messana has particular interest and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of skin cancer and specializes in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction, in addition to his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of other illnesses of the skin, hair, and nails.
The esteemed American College of Mohs Surgery recognizes him as a member.
Publications and Stations
The American Academy of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, and the Michigan Dermatological Society are just a few of the national, international, and state dermatology conventions where Dr. Messana has lectured on a variety of dermatology-related issues. He presently sits on the editorial advisory board for the American Academy of Dermatology magazine Dermatology World.
Leadership
After being chosen as student government president by his medical school colleagues, Dr. Messana’s career as a physician leader officially began. He would later be elected national student government president. In his final year of medical school, he had the privilege of serving as the student representative of his profession for the American Osteopathic Association.
