When her fellow students chose her to serve as student government president, Dr. Messana’s career as a physician leader officially began. Later, she earned a position on the national organization of student government’s executive board. At St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she completed her dermatology residency training, Dr. Messana once again demonstrated her leadership abilities when she was chosen to serve as chief resident for her senior year.

After completing her residency, she was chosen from a highly competitive pool of exceptionally talented dermatologists from all over the United States to spend an additional year completing a fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, in the subspecialty of dermatopathology.

Dr. Messana has presented at international, national, and state dermatology conferences, including those of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, and the Michigan Dermatological Society. She has also published numerous articles in the dermatology literature.

In addition to general and cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Messana specializes in the clinical and microscopic diagnosis and treatment of all skin, hair, and nail diseases. She belongs to the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society of Dermatopathology. Dr. Messana is uniquely suited to offer her patients top-notch dermatologic care because of her exceptional training and experience and her personable and caring patient care style.
